Classy, elegant & vintage wedding.
These are the three words to describe Sarah & Patrick’s wedding this past November at the Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto, Ontario.
Sarah and Pat chose to celebrate their marriage downtown at this wonderful and unique venue, with brass accents, velvet couches, a grand reception space with MASSIVE ceilings, and an elegant and ornate Sultan Room for portraits. We lucked out with mild weather, and were able to capture some stunning portraits outside in the urban setting. The parked Porsche was a paid actor, and paired perfectly with the groom’s tux and the bride’s fur wrap.
Pat started the morning by getting ready at their condo with some of his closest friends. I could tell right away that it was going to be a good day with the amount of laughter that filled the room. The guys were standing in a line at one point, lint rolling each other.
Sarah took advantage of the Windsor Arms Hotel setting for it’s elegant and vintage touches. We captured some solo shots of her in a room full of windows on the upper level in the Sultan Room, and the shots did not disappoint. I could tell Sarah felt glamorous because she couldn’t stop twirling around like a princess, flicking the train of her dress. It was magical and made for some stunning portraits – this is literally every wedding photographer’s dream!
The couple shared a first look in the bar area of the Windsor Arms Hotel, and we moved on to some portraits with their wedding party. We opted for a very Vanity Fair inspired shot in the Sultan Room, with some standing and some sitting.
Their ceremony and reception took place in the grandest of spaces, with enormous ceilings and glowing candle light. There was an impromptu lightsaber battle between the groom and an unknown assailant, and they finished off the evening with a speech delivery from a balcony – a moment that can only be described as “regal”.
After the speech, we used a little bit of time to do some super fun flash photography in the upstairs hallway of the Windsor Arms Hotel. We used the brass luggage cart and a few glasses of champagne for some edgy and romantic portraits of the bride and groom. I have to say, these might be some of my favourite shots yet!
After a quick outfit change, Sarah and Pat made a second grand entrance into the party. The couple and their guests hopped onto the dance floor led by the always amazing DJ Chris, and literally danced the night away.
